IntroductionFor patients with
liver failure who do not react to pharmacological treatment and when various surgical treatments do not produce positive outcomes, liver transplantation is the only available form of treatment. Organs for transplant are obtained from either living donors or those who have passed away from brain death (deceased donor).
The Turquoise Medical Liver Transplant Centers offer services to both adults and children.
The centers for liver transplants from deceased donors use the orthotopic approach. A damaged liver is replaced with a healthy liver in the same body portion using the surgical procedure known as an orthotopic liver transplant.
In transplant cases involving living donors, the liver is partially removed. After some time, the recipient’s and donor’s livers swell to their expected sizes and begin to function normally.
